First ICT Blog Post

Welcome to my first ICT blog as part of my PGCE studies. In ICT this week we learnt about Web 2.0 and the implications of children using technology.

Some useful interactive websites are:
www.delicious.com - a useful website for storing bookmarks.
http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/ - a 2d animation site that children enjoy using.
http://www.flickr.com/ - an online photo management and sharing website.

We saw some examples of children making their own blogs in ICT lessons at school. I found a great blog by a whole school here. It includes year group and individual blogs and lots of photos and videos of school activities.

Our first task was to find out about esafety. Schools have a responsibility to ensure that pupils do not access harmful or inappropriate material at via the internet at school, and must take steps to prevent cyberbullying. They need to teach safe and responsible behaviour using technology, and ensure that internet safeguarding measures such as filtering as put in place.

Some useful websites about esafety:

Teaching resource: here are some activities on the CBBC website that you could do with children to teach them about internet safety.
